Do you want to 'arrive'? Is there a Dream Destination calling you forward, whispering your name, tugging at your very soul? Then it's time to leave!
As seasoned travellers we know this. We understand that, if we want to get to some other place, we need to leave where we are. Setting off is a pre-requisite of arriving - it's obvious! But in the Journey of Life, it's easy to forget. So we cling to the comfort and security of our Familiarity Zone, our current very well-mapped location, whilst simultateously expecting to arrive elsewhere!
For some, the 'leaving' will be physical, and perhaps on a grand scale - leaving behind a job or business, a relationship they've outgrown, their home or town, a state of health or body condition which is less than desired. For others, the 'leaving' will be more subtle, as they gradually let go of old habits and out-dated routines. For everyone, the leaving will be perceptual - leaving behind out-dated ways of looking at their world and a limited view of themselves.
There is nothing standing between you and your Dream Destination but the story you tell yourself about why you can't get there.
"I'm too old / too young", "I'm not smart enough / pretty enough / wealthy enough / slim enough", "It's too late / too soon", and on and on...! Our ideas about who we are, and what's possible for us in the world, become limits in our minds and then limits in our lives. Decide otherwise, and life will never be the same again.
So consider your Dream Destination. What do you need to leave behind in order to begin the next phase of your Journey? And when will you set out? Remember, the only thing you're really leaving behind is a story that's kept you stuck. Let go of that, one idea at a time, and you'll learn to love leaving!
"Our greatest strength isn't our ability to imagine brighter days ahead, it is that we are empowered - in every present moment - to effortlessly dismiss any dark thought or feeling that, left unattended, diminishes our happiness." Guy Finley

Kate, I love this post! I have never thought about it in those terms. What an insightful Truth, and wonderful perspective to frame "change." You're awesome!
